Criser Troutman Tanner provided structural engineering and design for
Beau Rivage
Marketplace, a
twenty acre, mixed use retail shopping center in the southern portion of New
Hanover, located off of Carolina Beach Road. CTT provided structural
engineering design for three
(3) independently constructed, single-story buildings that were designed for
the site for a total of approximately 130,000 sf of retail commercial
shopping space. The Harris Teeter building was designed by others.
One building is
a mixed use commercial shell totaling approximately 6,000 sf. The other two
buildings consist of an adjacent in-line retail shell space adjacent to an
anchor retail with approximately 7,800 sf and the other building consisting
of approximately 5,000 sf. It was desired that separate construction
documents be provided for each building for individual permitting and all
buildings will be design as a "black box."
The building construction consists of steel frames and columns and some
load-bearing masonry walls. Columns and walls are supported by shallow
spread footings and wall footings. The roof system consists of a metal roof
deck supported by steel roof joists and beams. There are towers and canopies
incorporated into the buildings.
The exterior walls consist of non-load bearing metal curtainwall studs with
a brick veneer. The ground floor slab is a concrete slab-on-grade.
Bid and Construction phase services were also provided.
