CTT provided research, planning, and design for a single turbo scour unit to be installed to eliminate the traditional requirement for hydraulic and agitation maintenance dredging. The system uses 42-inch diameter Turbo Scour Units furnished by Scour Systems, Inc. and consists of eight to ten scour units powered by 75 horsepower hydraulic motors. This system is centrally controlled and powered to alternate operation of the units so that the scour operation is in force during falling tide. Coordination is required for operation within a dock front with mooring facilities for large and small ships, and barges. Some mooring points will be altered. A single unit was installed for monitoring in the spring of 1998. Monitoring results were favorable and completion of the system installation, by others, was installed in 1999.
